AUGUST AUGUST
My favourite decorations each year, made by @onela My favourite decorations each year, made by @onelabpro. A tradition I will continue as long as they will let me!! I hope all of you who received decorations from me have them hanging proudly on your tree 🎄
Ever feel like you’re losing a part of yourself? Ever feel like you’re losing a part of yourself? This year, I did!…..

Perimenopause got me this year! I didn’t see it coming and then….bam 💥she hit me like a tornado, side-swiped me on her way through, taking a piece of me with her!

I’m now learning how to reclaim the pieces of me that collapsed. It’s a work-in-progress 😉

I had been on fertility meds for 2.5 years which was masking my symptoms. Once I stopped the meds, it turned out I had been running on virtually nothing. My hormones were on the floor.

Apart from being unable to shift some weight gain, it wasn’t so much the physical symptoms that got me. But the mental ones 🧠

The brain fog, memory loss and overwhelm were next level. Kinda scary really.

My mind was always my superpower!

The ability to recall PPS numbers, phone numbers and number plates after one glance. The ability to see the bigger picture and also micro details at the same time was a gift I just innately had.

The wonderful paradox of being on a photoshoot, in my creative zone while also answering questions on taxes 🤣

My friend describes me as a “unicorn” 🦄. The ability to flip between left and right brain in the same sentence!

And suddenly, I could barely remember what I did 5 minutes ago or what I was supposed to be doing in 5 minutes time. I mean, I forgot A LOT!
I took on too much work, thinking I could operate at the same capacity I always did, but it became an uphill climb on a mountain that had no peak.

Messages going completely unanswered. Sometimes mentally replying but never actually typing a response! 🙈 Other times, simply forgetting about it the second I read it.

I felt joyless and empty yet unable to pin-point and articulate that feeling I was in. Someone once described me as “sunny” as I’m always smiling and joyful 🌞. It’s not a facade, it’s my being. But that was dialled all the way down.

I did drop the ball this year. Or all of them! I thought I was like a swan, trying to gracefully go about my life while treading water for survival underneath. But it didn’t go unnoticed. Those around me could see changes and the dim in my light.

One year on….. On Friday 13th October last year, One year on…..

On Friday 13th October last year, we were married in a room full of our favourite people.

It was everything we wanted it to be; relaxed, intimate, meaningful and lots of fun.

I realised looking through my feed I never shared many images from our wedding day. But, the work and talent of my friend @pamelabradyphotography is too good not to share. And also, as I chatted with a friend of mine about this week, it’s important to acknowledge the good in our life, the moments and the people, when we can and as often as we can.

Going back over the images yesterday (still have to put an album together!), the complete story of our day was there before us, told in the most beautiful, real way. Nothing posed or staged just documented exactly as it was. And I love you for that @pamelabradyphotography.

So here is the first half of the day, morning prep at my mum & dads followed by a ceremony at Screebe House:

💫Hair by the extremely talented @niamhleehair (we didn’t do a trial, I just showed her a photo and she recreated it ✨)

💫Makeup by my amazing sister @cbeautywithfiona, who knows me and my skin so well

💫Dress from @pearllanebridal

💫Flowers @clegganfarmflowers

💫 Ceremony & reception @screebehouse

It’s been a fast year. A year that saw the world change, and not for the better. It’s shown us humanity in its ugliest forms, and yet, along with so much evil and hate, there is love and goodness in so many. And so, on this day I choose to celebrate love, show love and share love.

I love you Enda, love you Liam. I love Us. And I love our life.
